Hockey Day in America is back.
Emanating this year from the historic Trump Wollman Skating Rink in New York’s Central Park, Hockey Day in America is a day dedicated to the sport of hockey across the United States. This year, 3 games headline Hockey Day in America. This first game on NBC between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Buffalo Sabres will be called by TSN’s Gord Miller and MSG’s Joe Micheletti. After that, NBC’s no. 1 team of 2011 U.S. Hockey Hall-of-Famer Mike “Doc” Emrick, 2012 U.S. Hockey Hall-of-Famer Eddie Olczyk, and “Inside the Glass” reporter Pierre McGuire will call the second game between the defending Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings and the best team in the NHL, the Chicago Blackhawks, from the Madhouse on Madison, Chicago’s United Center. Hockey Day in America concludes on the NBC Sports Network from The World’s Most Famous Arena, Madison Square Garden, as NBC’s no. 2 team of Dave Strader and Brian Engblom will call the game between the Washington Capitals the New York Rangers. During NBC’s broadcast, there will be special features about hockey in the United States, which includes the inspirational story of Jack Jablonski and his road to recovery and the history of hockey hair with “NHL Overtime” analyst Jeremy Roenick and “The Crossover” co-host Michelle Beadle.
