2017 Stanley Cup Final Commercial – “Spelling”

After a one year hiatus, the NHL released a commercial to promote the 2017 Stanley Cup Final. The premise of the commercial is very simple: you take some of the greatest names in the history of the sport, put them in a room, and make them spell their last names. But these aren’t just any names. These are names that are synonymous with the lore of the hardest trophy in all of sports to win. From Super Mario, to the Great One, The Kid, The Golden Jet, The Messiah, The Finnish Flash, Captain Serious, Saint Patrick, Gordie, Marty, all the way to Number Four, Bobby Orr, these men have made it a life’s work to be the best to ever play the game, and that having their names etched on the Stanley Cup was worth all the blood, sweat, tears, hard work, dedication, and commitment. You win the Cup, and every letter in your name is earned to be engraved in immortaity.
