About Me

Hi, everybody! My name is Stacy Albano. I’m a 25-year-old native of Chicago and I’m a huge Blackhawks fan. For the last 3 seasons, I was a frequent blogger on the NHL.com Fans page under the username toewszone0809. Well, after June 30th, that page shut down and I had nowhere to post my ideas on one of the sports I love. So, like most NHL players, I took the summer off to rest, recharge, and get ready for the 2011-2012 season. But how did I get here? I found out that I had joined WordPress prior to the 2008 MLB Postseason. Back then, I was writing about the Cubs and the White Sox. So I created a new blog, and that’s what you’re seeing here right now. On my previous NHL.com Fans blog, I talked about hockey in general, but mostly about how hockey intertwined with pop culture (hence the name Pop Hockey Culture). Since the NHL lockout that canceled the 2004-05 season, they have found ways to change the game and make it more exciting. And with that, the NHL, which used to be on the bottom of the list of the four major North American sports leagues, is suddenly on top! Add to that the influx of stars like Alex Ovechkin, Sidney Crosby, Jonathan Toews, Patrick Kane, and Steven Stamkos, and the NHL was suddenly must-see TV once again. Everything I did there, I get to continue to do that here. Some of the features I had there was:

  • Preseason Predictions
  • Weekly postings of  Hockey Night in Canada’s Coach’s Corner
  • A Winter Classic Countdown featuring facts about the host venue, and traditions of the host team (hockey and host venue)
  • Blackhawks Playoff Game recap
  • Pictures of the Chicago Blackhawks Ice Crew
  • Off the Ice: general comments on things that are not related to hockey that I want to share with the world

And so, welcome to my world! I hope you enjoy what I bring to the party
